Scholarship Gifts

"The most important function of education at any level is to develop the personality of the individual and the significance of his life to himself and to others.” Grayson Kirk

To make education accessible to everyone who is willing to work for it is especially significant. That’s what scholarship giving is all about; making education accessible.

Davenport University provides a variety of scholarships to our students through The Davenport Fund and the Davenport University Foundation. The scholarship awards distributed every year come directly from current gifts or investment earnings on past gifts to Davenport. Your support is vital to the growth of our scholarship program  and to impacting lives that impact your communities.

Annual Scholarships
You can create an annual scholarship to be awarded each year. With a regular, annual gift you can establish a named scholarship and select the criteria you value. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student in your name or the name of someone you choose to honor.

Annual Scholarships at Davenport require a minimum annual commitment of $2,000 which can be made in a single contribution or spread out over the July to June fiscal year.

Endowed Scholarships
Contributions to an endowment fund are never spent. The interest earnings from these funds are used to make scholarship awards. Therefore, an Endowed Scholarship Fund remains in place in perpetuity. The dollars are invested and only a percentage of the income is used for student scholarships, preserving the fund for future spending needs.

Endowed Scholarships at Davenport require a minimum commitment of $25,000, which can be made in a single contribution or as an annual gift over several years. Donors are encouraged to add to their scholarship(s) even after the minimum of $25,000 has been reached. By increasing the balance, an increased award or number of scholarship awards can be given to students.

An Endowed Honorary or Memorial Scholarship can be established in another person’s name which is a wonderful way to honor another person. The scholarship will help students for years to come while keeping alive an enduring memory of the person for whom the fund was named.
