Davenport University’ College of Health Professions prepares students to excel in the healthcare professions. As a College we seek to maintain the highest level of accreditation and academic excellence within the healthcare disciplines. As part of the Vision 2015, the College prepares graduates who are job ready and exceed employers expectations at the highest level of quality and standards of excellence rooted in a foundation of forward thinking, innovation and creativity.
As a professional college, we incorporate the DU Excellence systems principles throughout the curriculum. The values of the college reflect the University’s values of serving students with quality, trustworthiness, accountability, innovation and creativity and respect for people. We operationalize these values within a healthcare framework through an emphasis on respect and care for the most vulnerable, with compassion, and striving for professional excellence in all we do to educate future healthcare professionals.
A variety College of Health Programs are offered on 11 campuses state-wide. In addition we have 3 state of the art labs in Grand Rapids Lettinga campus, Midland , and Warren with additional learning labs for Medical Assisting in Lettinga, Saginaw, Lansing, Battle Creek and Warren. As we work to prepare interprofessional education experiences, we have begun incorporating interdisciplinary simulations throughout the health profession curriculum.
We continue to use the Davenport model to develop leading edge healthcare programs to meet the needs of our students and the emerging healthcare economy. To that end we are proud of our new Master’s of Science in Nursing program which launched in August of 2012. This program uniquely addresses the needs of current nursing professionals seeking to achieve advanced knowledge and skills in Nursing. We have also received approval for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from our Board of Trustees. Currently we are in the early stages of preparing our physical environment to accommodate these programs as well as building the academic foundations needed to secure initial accreditation.
