What is Experiential Learning?

The definition of experiential learning at Davenport is: 

Personal experience outside of the classroom, as a part of credit-bearing courses, that adds value to the student’s educational objectives and development through practical application of program and course outcomes and the process of reflection.  

The mission of experiential learning is:

To support the university’s Mission, Vision, and Excellence System by providing students with broader perspectives in the areas of professional and lifelong learning, civic and community engagement, and internationalization.  The end result is a student who is prepared to succeed in—and contribute to—today’s complex real world.
