Judy Knapp began her professional career in secondary education teaching German, history and humanities. After obtaining her MBA in Organizational Behavior at Michigan State University, she worked in the Quality Control and Human Resources departments of a local automobile parts supplier. While there she established an in-house associates degree program for employees in partnership with Grand Rapids Community College. Later, she was a learning consultant for a Canadian distributor in commercial building and residential housing markets. She worked with the executive team in planning and implementing a major cultural shift within the company that resulted in significant company growth and profitability.

Upon joining Davenport University in 2009, Judy became the Accounting Honors Program Coordinator. She has helped to design and facilitate experiential learning projects for honors students, organized outside workshops, and assisted students with internship and job searches. In addition, Judy has served as the Program Manager for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), a service-learning opportunity that more than fifty DU students participate in each year. She currently serves as Program Director for the West Michigan VITA collegiate partnership.

Judy is an accounting faculty member who teaches federal taxation for individuals, payroll accounting and state taxes. Ms. Knappā€™s teaching philosophy focuses on improving the reasoning and critical thinking skills of students through building their background knowledge while having students engage in hands-on problem solving.
