Prior to joining Davenport faculty, Melissa has worked professionally as a research technician for five years at Wysong Corporation and as a research assistant/wildlife technician for two years with Michigan State University. At Wysong Corporation she developed nutritional products for companion animals, acted as a nutritional counselor for pets, and created technical literature. Her research with Michigan State was an ecological risk assessment for the Tittabawassee River Watershed which involved studying the reproductive health, behavior, and diet of various passerine bird species. Melissa has created a lab manual for Davenport University’s Biology 110 course.
Melissa Haswell is a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership Program at Central Michigan University with an emphasis in science education. Her dissertation research will examine how higher education culture shapes the scholarly identity and teaching methods of biology professors.
